General
- OK, so what's this site about?
Pretty much every message board I've ever visited has some variation on a "caption game", where someone posts a picture, and everyone else provides amusing captions for that picture. The purpose of this site is shallow and simplistic: to provide you with a wealth of pictures for you to caption, and a wealth of captions for you to laugh at.
- How do I add a caption to a picture?
Beneath each picture is a text box. Enter your caption, and it will be posted for all to rate!
- Ugh...that caption sucked. What do I do about it?
See those + and - links next to the caption's score on the right? Those are the mod buttons - just click the appropriate one, and the caption will be ranked up or down.
- I want to add a picture! How do I?
Just create a new account, log in, and click the Add Picture button on the menubar at the top of your control panel.
- I never got my confirmation email! What do I do?
Did you enter a valid email address? If so, email Antiarc@captionthis.com and we'll get you fixed up.
- Man...this caption's funny. Can I see other captions this poster has put up?
Sure can. Just click that person's name, and it will take you to their profile. Click the "captions" option on the menubar, and there you are!
- I want to track the captions I've posted, so I can see their scores and all.
See above. Just go to your control panel, and click the "Captions" link.
- I want to track pictures I've posted. How do I do that?
Same procedure. Use the "Pictures" option.
- Uh...that picture is pretty gross. I don't think it belongs here. What do I do?
Below each picture is a "Report this picture" link. Click it, and type in the reason you believe it's inappropriate. We'll review it, and if it doesn't belong, we'll remove it.
- What is this "threshold"?
You can set a caption rating threshold so that you don't see captions that have been rated below a certain level. This allows you to filter out the crap while still getting the good stuff.
- Why do you have "picture ratings"? What are those?
Basically, it's a rating system based on the American movie rating system that provides a way for you to tell what kind of picture it may be before you click it. The system is as follows:- G - Good for everyone.
- PG - The picture possibly contains some minor offensive material.
- PG-13 - Possibly contains some crude or moderately offensive material.
- R - Definitely contains offensive material. Consider these "not safe for work".
IRC Quote Database
- What's this IRC Quote Database?
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat, and is a popular means of chatting with others on the Internet. There was a site called bash.org which archived funny quotes from transcripts of chats for people to see. Since bash.org has died, we're trying to pick up the slack. People say very funny things sometimes, why not share them with others?
- That's great. What do I do with those quotes?
Read 'em, laugh, rate 'em. The + and - links next to each quote will let you rate that particular quote up or down.
- I want to add a quote! How do I do that?
Just create a new account, log in, and click the Add IRC Quote button on the menubar at the top of your control panel.
- Do I get credit for posting quotes?
Not publically, no. Some people may want to post quotes anonymously. While you can still track quotes you've submitted from your control panel, other people won't be able to see which quotes you submitted.
